For those of you who are tired of pulling a drawknife or can't find any peelers, then this is the tool for you. This is a heavy-duty CNC milled 8" aluminum disc with 3 HSS steel planer blades mounted on it. It really helps whip the bark off and is ideal for primary peeling; and takes the knots off too. Mount it on a Makita 9" grinder and go to work!
When using, please ensure you are wearing eye, face, ear and hand protection; and a leather bib apron or chainsaw apron. Please also make sure your grinder has the proper 9" guard on it too.
The disc will do approximately 300 linear feet per 8 hour day. Typically, about 4 hours between sharpening dependent on dirt in the Bark. A bench grinder can be used to sharpen, use the outside portion of the wheel to get the most accurate angles unless a jig is used.
We do not recommend using this disc on Red Cedar as it binds up in the blades frequently due to the fiber in the wood being so stringy.
